My name is sarah and I am writing in regard to the bus driver of AJ Myers A258. I am very disappointed in the actions taken against this driver. My daughter has informed me that her bus driver had wrote up a female student that I will not name.
The female student was verbally abusing another male student on the bus. The driver was doing his job by writing this female up and in doing so he was removed from the bus for doing his job. My daughter has also told me that the bus driver has been the best she has ever had. The driver has been very respectful to all students on the bus. For the school district and AJ Myers bus company to remove a very good driver is uncalled for. AJ Myers should be ashamed of them selfs along with Kevin Prady, the school transportation director. If I was the driver of 258 I would be going to a lawyer for this. The driver needs all the support of the community and parents. Please call the bus garage or Kevin Prady at the school. Let them know that we support the driver and demand his return to BUS 258. The students on the bus have made signs that say WE WANT ADAM BACK. The fill in driver demanded to have the signs taken down.
Also with the issue with this threat subject. Why remove a driver that has been there for almost 7 months now. Who knows are kids and who gets on at what stop to protect them and make sure no one gets on that bus that should not be riding.
Please show your SUPPORT FOR OUR DRIVER.........BUS 258..........

Welcome back, have always enjoyed reading your posts and now hope to continue to do so. You seem to have such good common sense-keep on commenting.
Is your entire blog based on what your child told you? Have you talked to the bus company or the transportation director yourself to see what the whole story is? You have to be kidding me!! Oh, and by the way.... would you let your kids hold up a sign in the back of your car? How would you see out the back? How would you see the kids that are behind the sign? Just so you know, it isn't safe to hold up signs (or anything) that blocks the view of the driver. This blog is being abused for individuals STUPID agendas and very few people have typed anything on here that is completely true, accurate, and based on facts. Give it up people. This isn't helping anyone, it is just spreading rumors, half-truths, and lies that others are feeding off of. Someone tell me... what good has come from anything typed on here?

I agree that the original blog was uninformative and poorly written, but in general, the bus drivers should be able to discipline the students as necessary to maintain a safe environment on the bus.
If a student is doing anything to disrupt or distract the driver, or contribute to a situation that could become a disruption or distraction, they should be written up.
In general, the students need to treat the bus as transportation, not an oppportunity for playtime. I'm not accusing anyone of any particular behavior, just making a general statement.
I am the driver for 258. What the mother above has said is all true. I did write up a female student for verbally, sexually abuse, and discrimation against a fellow male student. what else was said is that the male student beat up the female on my bus... which is NOT TRUE. There has not been any physical alltercation between the two on my bus. I keep a close eye on all students on my bus. the female and male student sit 8 seats apart so they have no way to have any physical touching. I have been fired as of today for this matter. which is not fair to me, for just writing up a student. I was doing my job, if I would have known that writing up a student would lead to my termination, i would have not written her up.
AND the one who wrote the blog??? Why did you, as the bus driver, refer to "the mother above" as if she were someone else? Something is wrong here...??!!

there was something wrong from the minute I read that blog.
If you know the driver well enough that he/she is coming to your house, then it is pretty obvious that we are not getting the whole story. It is one sided. There has to be more to it than that. Again... stupid blogs of no use or value... they just get people fired up about stupid lies.
SarahJ and the bus driver are two different people??!! The writing styles are, let's just say...similar.
Shouldn't we wait for another letter in the backpack from the administration? It's Wednesday, we should be sweeping the last three weeks under the rug!
My name is ADAM METROCAVIGE. I'm the driver for 258, I respect all opinions given on this site. I also feel a parent(s) opinion is their right. If Sarah felt she needed to voice her opinion, good for her. I also believe that all bus drivers should get to know all their parents on the bus personally. I would have liked to get to know all my parents on my bus, but that was not possible.
Sarah called me after my meeting to see how it went. When I told her I was let go, she asked me to stop by to show me the blog she had written. I appreciated her for standing up in what she belives in. The kids on my bus were my life, they meant the world to me. I miss them all greatly.
Most times the driver is the first person in the morning and the last person the children see at night depending on the parent(s) work schedule. When I seen one of your children upset, I did not hesitate to go to your child(s) and find out what was wrong. If they did not want to talk about it, I did not press the issue and just told them I'm here when they need to talk, or just have someone listen to them.
I feel hurt, that I am being fired for doing my job. When it came down to it. My boss said he would have my back 100%. This morning when I was called into the bus garage. Mr. Prady was there, but did not come to talk to me about the issues at hand. My boss did not come either, they left it up to a supervisor to inform me that my services where no longer needed. At this time I do not know where to go from here. Sarah has told me along with some of the other drivers to get a lawyer, but I really dont wanna get the courts involved with this. The school nor the bus garage had given me any warning of this, they just covered up everything.
I said was termination actually nessecary, why not susupend me for 3days or transfer me to something else. I really do not want to transfer to another bus. But they could have done this alittle better than they did

why is everyone giving this guy a hard time? He has given his story, the only one any of us can ever give because we only live in our own body, and I feel kinda bad for the guy. You aren't pulling down six-figures to drive a bus. Also, I personally could NEVER drive a bus given the chaotic environment in that yellow can. The field trips I've been on with my kids and my own experience on school buses does lend some respenct to these people for even getting into the dark side of the transportation business.
If the other side is needed perhaps those that are really scrutinizing he wrote/she wrote aught to just call this transportation guy themselves and get the story. Otherwise why even comment??
For sake of reminiscing, I had a kid on my bus when I was in fourth grade that hit my bus driver over the head with his metal, speedracer lunchbox because the bus driver tried to settle the kid down and kept telling him to sit down. Beleive it or not that kid was right back on the bus the next morning. bus drivers sometimes have it tough.
I actually agree with MYFOURSONS. Driving a bus is a tough job and it usually takes a real special person to do the job and do it well. We all know the pay isn't great, but we put our kids lives in their hands and all in all, they do a darn good job.

its sad to me about sv since i went to school there, my kids do and i always had pride in the district regardless of test scores, taxes, raises whatever. those have all been stirred up with sexual abuse allegations, threats, arrests in parking lots and needless to say a really nasty strike that is yet to be solved into a caldron of despair and disappointment. major bummer when those of us who looked forward to the next generation going there start looking or hoping for alternatives.

the pocket knife shows up a lot nowadays as a "weapon" or even "deadly weapon". I could cause more damage with my key between my fingers and punching someone in the skull than the most magnificent of swiss army knives can (although I could hold the knife the same way with the spike extension sticking out.
It is great to hear from an actual cop that some of the things going on in lawenforcement these days are ridiculous and petty and all to often I think done just to grab a headline at the expense of some regular guy.

I can't say that I agree. I think our district is actually on the same playing field as most other districts, for better or worse. Actually, the more I think about it, SV is no different today then it was when I went there. I went to SV K-12 and there was a strike, there were drugs, a few gun incidents, plenty of fights and little "scandals" and all sorts of other things that popped up from time to time. I know that society is different today and parents are more fearful now then they were when I was in school, but I think if you take a step back and really think about it, things are very comparable to the way they were 10, 15, 20 years ago...just add cell phones.

SV is not held in high regard. At least among the hundreds of people I know in social and business circles. Maybe there is some shadow army out there of cheerleaders and apologists I just never run across. Maybe they live in the forest somewhere in fantasyland.
If SV was such a great district, enrollment would be increasing, not decreasing. SV should be absorbing the population growth we've had in the area. Rather, enrollment has been on a steady decline -- and it is getting worse.
If SV was such a great district, its residents would be more than happy to shell out what the teachers are demanding for compensation. Just the opposite. They are balking at the demands because the product produced by SV is poor.
If SV was such a great school district, why idoes such a disproportionate amount of North Catholic's enrollment come from SV? 40%!
If SV was such a great district, why are its schools on state academic warning? Huh?

I cannot stop laughing at that outstanding avatar. some of the acronyms that have appered of late including some of my own and yours...hillabeast, billary, etc...
For everyone, carefully consider if you vote for this joke of a politician. she is corrupt, proved her worth as a person let alone women when she could not voice her opinion or condemnation of her husbands repeated antics rather than just sitting down like the mouse she is plotting how she can bow at the alter of bill yet again, instead of dishing the dude and gaining a lot of respect.
Finally, any of the women or womens groups out there that support her are not doing themselves very well by supporting a total weakling to the strong woman argument. GOD help us if she gets in and institutes the largest social program in the world since the days of russian socialism (actually never reached the communism state of things) with mandates and penalties for those that wan't to remain american and have the chance to make their own choices in life.
Average Joe, you didn't substantiate anything in your second dopey post, "I must be right". Because you make a stupid post, and then people tell you that your post was stupid, doesn't mean that you were right and you must have struck a nerve. It means you made a STUPID post.
Enrollment isn't declining in any statistically significant way. Give me the number of school-age-eligible children along with the enrollment to prove otherwise.
People aren't willing to pay SV teachers top tier money because they aren't delivering top tier results - but still better than overall averages. If SV is a disaster, then 75% of the Public Schools in PA are too.
Maybe North Catholic's enrollment from SV is high (I don't know that your numbers are right, since you never cite a source) because people wanted to send their kids to Catholic school no matter where they lived, so they moved to SV to avoid the absurd Allegheny County property taxes, since they'd be shelling out for that education anyway.
I believe two schools are on academic warning based on some aspect of their test scores, as reported here by others. It's not the whole district.
I guess we struck a nerve here with the truth.
Now they are trying to quantify the academic decline by stating "it is only 2 SV schools that are on academic warning". I am sure that makes you feel warm and fuzzy, huh?
All you parents with kids in those schools, don't worry -- the other SV schools are not on warning (yet).

PACOPGIRL you need to get your facts straight before posting information about people on here... Yes, AJ Myers did give me a RETIRED school van. The school van was used only for me to get back and forth to work. The van was never used to haul any children, DUE to it only had 2 seats in it. All the other seats were removed.If you would like to see the van it is #204... Taxpayers never paid for the van I drove, Myers and myself paid for the fuel that went into the van... Also I have worked for AJ Myers for 2 years and have never been fired from them. I have never gotten a write up against me. And a suspension was never even offered to me... I would really like to know who gives you your information, since it is totally incorrect. Maybe you would like to meet up at the bus garage and actually get the real facts before posting them on here, but somehow I dont think you like to operate in real facts.
Yes, I paid for fuel that I used for my personal use, and I have receipts to prove that. Secondly, The van only has a passenger seat in it, and no other seat. Third, I am NOT the only person to use that van, just to make you aware of that. Also, van 204 was used on a trip over the Christmas holidays in the cranberry area, with the seats reinstalled, so perhaps that what you are referring to. I had van 331 in that time frame.
I am at a loss as to the big secret as to why I was let go. I would love for you to tell me since you appear to know more than my former supervisors do. Don't be so afraid to say it, I want to know. I have placed several calls to Mr. Prady, but he cant seem to be bothered to return a simple phone call.
I know drivers up there that take vehicles home all the time, take them to lunch, heck, I know a driver that took one to Connecticut...bet you didn't know that!
By the way, whoever you get you information from needs to be corrected on a few things, which I have mentioned in previous posts...and you seem to have ignored. I truly hope you do better police work than that...Police are supposed to get ALL the facts, and from the direct source, not from heresay.
For one example...
I was NEVER fired from Myers bus company until now. Not a write up, verbal warning, NOTHING. I was off (read OFF, not fired)for a month and a half for medial leave last year. Hey, Heres a scoop...call 724-452-9470 and get the correct facts, then post accordingly...somehow I doubt you will...
So, PACOPGIRL, lets see if you have the true police fashion that I hope you have and that you will make that call to finally get the truth. or is your badge a farce...
You say that I should tell the truth...I have. You say you know what happened...but I really and truly don't...especially considering the bus garage doesn't even appear to know. This is one BIG secret, and believe me, I would truly appreciate any light you could shed on the subject. I just don't understand what the issue is that caused my dismissal. I would even meet up with you to sit behind your polygraph because I am telling the gods truth here. Please enlighten me.
Apparently, the only one who knows the whole truth to this mess is Mr. Prady, and he is tight lipped and wont even return a simple phone call.

Yes, I have heard about this situation too from my son. He was also in the bus when it happened. I must say that my reaction was the same as yours.
