Charitable Donations
Submitted by svparenttwochildren on May 19, 2008 - 7:42am.
Someone posted a blog about charitable donations here quite some time ago but cannot find it.
I finally got around to going through my kids clothes and shoes and sorting through items they've outgrown or don't wear anymore.
I'd prefer to donate to an organization that doesn't resell items but keeps them locally for people in need.
Any organizations to recommend.

I have been using the Vietnam Vets for my donations. I do think they resell the items, but they also come to your door and pick your stuff up. You call or go online to schedule a pick up date, leave your items in bags on your front step marked "Vietnam Vets" and they come an pick them up and leave you a receipt. You don't have to be home. The phone number and website are:
800-775-VETS (8387)

Our storage space has become nonexistent; and as the number of victims being served increases while our volunteer corps decreases, we must again ask for your help. The following are items we would be happy to accept:
Seasonal, clean clothing items only
New stuffed animals (the Humane Society accepts used stuffed animals)
New underwear only
Unopened hair care and body products
New toys
We cannot accept:
Bicycles, used car seats, used strollers, used cribs (for safety reasons)
