from the dark side - sorry but like a pro-boxer...just couldn't stay retired!!!!!!!!!!!!
vader has been away for a week and is having MAJOR withdrawal. akin to many of my favorite sports athletes of our day...a retirement, followed by a come-back followed perhaps by a weak return to the game seems to driving me out of the death star....i just can't stand the confines of that damn orb.
so thinking of many things the last several days, some way more important than others big-time, the lord of all that is dark has had to return and comment on somethings that were happening in the death star that drove me to get in my tie (twin ion engined, by the way) fighter and boogie.
what was it that ultimately drove him out..........amongst other things, incessant, never ending, ear and brain penetrating.... explosions, machine-guns, cannons, RPG's, swords, yelling at space (or should i say TV's / computer screens) typing in real-time chat while blowing eachother up about how cool their gun or sword or armour is and where to get the stuff in the e-world, headsets, ntalking to thier e-soldiers in france, canada and the twins in wyoming.....what am i talking about some might ask, did he just totally lose it?
the answer is no...i was driven out by the modern gaming industry and the plethora of games that the little vaders play, incessantly when they are all in the house... these may mean little to some but they are very well known, and possibly abhorred by others............Video games of the modern era. Call-of-Duty, Gears of War, Halo (1,2,3 eventually infinity)the maligned/hated world-of-warcraft and its 12 MILLION users. Playstation 2, playstation 3, x-box 360, and a top line gaming computer make for an at times unending arcade experience in all rooms and even outside in a certain perimeter of NOISE. LOUD NOISE.
Pull the plug is the certain answer...don't be a lame Dad and limit the playing time, it all sounds good but four "normal" dudes with a common desire will accomplish their goals through team-work, trickery, slowly-but-surely-nagging from 4 directions until you must give in to regain sanity. Vader is weak in this regard and the best i come up with is just to take all the controllers from all games and hide them. it works for a while but then the chinese, incessant nagging torture begins and like a dude getting waterboarded, you eventually cave to just shut them up....
others may say.. get them out of the house, do some jobs, etc....trouble is they achieve these things in record time...practice all their sports, swim, play the games from TV in real-life, beat eachother up, use all the things from the games in real life, get wounded and finally return to eat and while dad is digesting......return to the realm of gaming.
i have to admit though...those games look kick-ass to me and i wish i had the time to play them myself!!!!

So glad you're back, but your heading should be 'Week 22'. I thought your departure was just temporary, since there is no 'blogger' rehab yet... ;)

This was set up by MFS to garner all the sympathy he could (you know faith put a poem out there for you???)...he stroked his ego, got his bearings and is now trying to limp back in.
Anyway my Irish friend, let me bring you up to speed...you didn't miss anything. Call Of Duty for xBox rocks BTW...stay away, it is more addictive than this bunch of malcontents and our lame opinions. Someone called Karma a mud puddle or something (his post was about the strike...YAWN)...Julio is taking care of that as we speak. itsjustmeagain is now the news chick and is doing a fine job keeping us posted on all things...word is she is really Sonni Abatta.
Anyway, never figured you for a quitter.
Hey-welcome again (I think)?? What oh what can we spar about now? Can you believe pit-thetic thinks I have the brain depth of a mud puddle? Well, asking you that is rhetorical. So this is better than video games?
HF-keep me posted on Julio's progress.
lmao...where are the kids? haha

This is just the kind of dribble that Pit-Thetic-Boss is against...YOU"RE AN ENABLER!!!!!
I can't help myself, Hottie. Life gets too serious and this is my diversion. Hmmmm, you, along with some others should know that! HA!

he who knows what i am talking about from actual first-hand experience gains my respect. vaders current inroads to the gaming world has been co-op mode with #2 vader in resistance - fall of man. i was a previous playstation 2 addict and since younger at the time...family champ of all games that require shooting and killing!! haven't gotten into any of the on-line games due primarily to time and not being practiced up enough to not get incessantly destroyed upon just spawning in the e-battles...that sucks.
the most surprising thing to me regarding the little vaders and the games they play is 'world of warcraft' the number and the diversity of players in WOW are amazing actually....in addition to their local buddies whom I all know...they will be playing against people all over the "WORLD!!!" some of which turn out to be Mom's (classic), Dad's, teenagers, little dudes, etc.. My nephew is the almightly level 7O taking perhaps an actual Month of gaming time to get there (his guy does look pretty cool though). Vaders 1,2,3,even 4 can play the game with expertise. the ability of the #3 and #4 little lords of darkness to just grasp the control schemes amazes me...it literally takes minutes to start into a new game with a new controller layout and they are right there as if second nature...that ability is one that would merit some type of scientific study (seriously). it truely amazes me. (i am a south-paw player so it takes me hours to get good at controller schemes)
Anyway....more important than all..tonight is the final scheduled game, as in every single year since 8...vaders team has slowly risen from the ashes to either be in a commanding lead or on the cusp of greatness, i am on the cusp right now and pumped for leading the boys of our team tonight.
We shall defeat you. See you there.
Even if I am Angry.
BACK
to see you all posting on YC again. This work computer doesn't allow me to access chat rooms. I felt like i was missing something and maybe a little left out. I know i don't post much here, but it's fun reading.
I see your return as more akin to the pro-wrestler who loopholes the "I Quit" match to find his way back to the squared circle. I was also watching for the emergence of Kirk or Picard or some other Sci-Fi persona, which would be like Hulk Hogan wearing a mask to disguise himself when he was "banned" from wrestling - a thinly veiled attempt to hide his true identify.
I have also observed the innate ability of the youngsters to pick up the game controller and quickly adapt to new sequences. I have essentially given up on the console-driven games, too complicated. And for some reason, the first time I ever play with my kids, they assume I know how to play the game already - their explanations of what you're supposed to be doing fall short.
Probably indicative of a pending societal inability to verbally communicate due to the Internet, Instant Messaging, Texting, and so on. Cracks me up when I see these dudes texting one word answers to each other, when they could just pick up the phone and talk. Asking chicks to the prom via text or IM, that kind of foolishness.
We live in a dangerous time. It's true, it's true.
Being very skilled at controller games could be a very good thing for future generations. Just look at the types of surgeries being performed, scoped with intricate hand devices and probes, removing, resecting etc. the human body. Just think some of these youngsters could possibly grow up to be famous surgeons one day due to game controller skills. Just a thought.
funny...i have used this argument at times when refering to the games amongst many groups discussing various topics...
1. i agree the subtle, precise movement of some of the pointing devices and the number of free-axises now being implemented in many consol controllers is impressive. for example is the six-axis game controller from PS3. games that fully utilize this funtionality (no real good challenging ones yet) impress me in the requirements for the brain to quickly learn and utilize the nearly 12 fixed digital buttons on a typical controller with the myriad of motion assiciated with six-axis game control with the joy sticks and controller body.
2. i have noticed that every single-one of my boys have very, very good hand-eye coordination. that i cannot just explain by genetics. those consol games have done something in that regard, i am certain.
3. communication with others while working the games simultaneously is another skill that impresses me and i see it also als transferrable into various field requiring precisision control of 'something' while being able to communicate completely seperatley yet flawlessly integrated.
4. the simulator games, especially the computer keyboard types with VERY accurate controlling schemes and equipment layout is also of partricular interest. I personally know two young guys that control un-manned planes and vehicles in development quickly mastering the contol needs, admitting that they think the simulator games allowed them to pick up what they are presently doing, especially through remote visualization and control of objects...pretty cool stuff.

We have the Wii and I must admit it is addictive. What I really like is that you can actually get a workout. I was playing the bowling game and the next day I could not figure out why my quads were a little sore. It was playing that game for three hours that did it. I encourage my children to play it during the winter, but now that it is summer and I say go outside and play!!!!
