the dark side - week 20!
Week 20 brings us curiously to the day after fathers day...vader is proud to have myfoursons and could elaborate at great length about how they are the best and better than everyone else, destined to be at the upper strata of society, etc. etc.... however, vader thinks it is best to assess the years accomplishments as a dad in terms of the activities and sucesses associated with such.
Success #1 - This year i thought it was a good year to teach m4s's to enter the world of the pugilists, the boxers...after a couple of days of training, matches started in the living room...as soon as the first "hard" punch was landed, all my training was for naught...boxing disappeared and all out cage matches ensued...in addition to crying and wailing...statues, candles, and a picture all bit the dust...this was the first of many rounds over the next months with few decorative items remaining in that room
Success #2 - since vader was of the wrestling breed himself, it was decided we should step it down and stick to just 'wrestling' well again, they all learned some good stuff and technique but alas, the first crossface led to a rapid digression into the aforementioned cage matches with the same results.
Success #3 - vader thought it would be cool while sweeping under the cushions of the couch, to stack them up and do some Jimmy "the snuka" Superfly dives onto the top of the stack...a broken collar bone to little vader ended that game permanently.
Success #4 - m4s's and the dark lord decided to do some sledding at the black-diamond hills at cranberry park. not satisfied with the typical experience...vader suggested that we carve out our own path down the absolute steepest part of the hill and build a huge jump at the bottom to see who could get the most air...a bitten lip, and chipped tooth to middle m4s ended that adventure but mucho air had been achieved by all.
Success #5 - a wasp nest under a bush in the front yard presented vader with the opportunity to light up a flare since the little dudes had wanted to see one and stick it into the mouth of the nest...at full speed, vader just made it back with the hose to keep the "burning bush" from burning down the house...lesson learned, don't play with fire or...don't be a dumb-ass like dad and try to burn a nest out under a dry bush to impress the kids.
Success #6 - always a dad to help the boys get better at thier activities, vader thought that practicing catching and throwing of lacrosse ball off the brick walls of the house would be good practice...after 2 front windows were broken...we stopped that training technique.
Success #7 - teaching the older boys how to change a tire...vader forgot to point out the importance of the jack being kept in a vertical position on firm footing. after showing the sons the whole process...vader decided he would test them by having them go through each step themselves...vader watched as they located the jack, lifted the car, lossened the lug nuts removed the tire and, while son 1 went to roll the new tire over, son 2 leaned on the car to rest, moving the jack out of vertical causing it to fail and the whole car falling down onto the front rotor...m4s's sons learned that dad did in fact swear with the best of them.
Success #8 - electrocuted while plugging a lamp in and not explaining to not touch the metal part.
Success #9 - what happens on a bike when you only apply the front brakes when going fast...test case with son 3 did not go well...very realistic.
Success #10 - carving some very nice swords for use by the youngest and teaching basic swordfighting skills (really need those nowadays)...the broken wrist on m4s # 3 ended those lessens (for a couple of weeks)
Success #11 and final...no one shot their eye out with the bb guns from santa.
Success #12 - biggest success of them all...got them into this world with my wife and surviving another year with a bit of an unconventional dad.
what a good year though for a dad...i look forward to this years adventures...we are going to start practicing shooting arrows, not to hunt but just to be prepared for a battle when the world delves into chaos due to the bird-flu pandemic and only guys like us will know how to survive...boxers, wrestlers, dare devils and soon to be the Robin Hoods of Cranberry Forest..
hope u dads all had a good fathers day and as successful of a year as me.

This blog was so entertaining to read first thing in the morning. Leading by example, as you do, is the best way to teach your kids. It's nice to know that you do 'swear'...haha.
Success #12 is absolutely the best success of all. Bringing kids into this world, and then watching them grow into confident, successful, compassionate (well I don't think trying to kill a wasp nest was too compassionate, imo) , is the most rewarding thing a parent can experience.
Great blog mfs.

p.s. Too bad you put my kid on the 'other' team yesterday. He maybe could have helped you guys out! lol
Has anyone notified CYS?
Good blog, m4s!
While on Success #3, you should have taught them the art of both delivering and absorbing the "chair shot" with the ever-popular ringside steel folding chair. That's a skill that can come in handy!
Biting into a turnbuckle until the stuffing comes out ala George "The Animal" Steele.
I'm showing my blondeness, what is a turnbuckle?...and if you can't say it here, email me...haha

PS Yes, but imagine my older brothers' amazement & def envy when I told them I lived a hop, skip & a jump from the famous wrestler, Bruno Sammartino ... I'm still considering their joint request 2 inquire of Mr. Sammartino wrt getting them an autograph 2 share ... LOL
