Is it district wide?
One of my kids goes to EC Elementry. It has gotten to be almost weekly that I have to e-mail a teacher or the principal regarding the teachers behavior. Global Warming, President Bush is Getting rich because of gas prices being so high, don't cut down trees, save the polar bears, sell T-shirts to save the rain forest and blah blah blah. When do they have time to actually teach something that is true and worth while?
One teacher had 5th grades students stand in different areas of the room depending on who they want to be president. I had to inform them that no one has to disclose who they would vote for. My daughter came home with a poster of a man cutting down a tree with a circle around it and a slash through it. I spent the next hour explaining what a truly renewable resource is and how blessed we are to have them to use.
When did political views, the religion of global warming, openly bashing the President of the United States, and all this other crapola become common place in a fifth grade class room?

Not sure what the context of these classroom discussions were and the one about Bush getting rich seems out of line. However, discussion about global warming (global warming does happen...sure, maybe its just natural, but what is the harm is talking abot it?), conservation, the recently listed polar bear all seem like reasonable science discussions to me.
I mean, does it really bother you that your childs teacher was talking about polar bears?
Maybe the faux election thing wasn't handled right, but I love the idea that kids talk about politics...so they get some other views, it won't kill them. In fact, maybe they will grow up to actually think that there are different views of the same issue.
Maybe you are wound too tight...ever think of that?
Nothing wrong with talking about it if both sides were presented. However thats not the case. Very one sided. Science is saying we can't drill for oil near polar bears because they will all die????? Yeah right. Maybe I am wound tight and thats a good thing!
That you only want one side presented...the one you agree with.
Stop worrying about Polar Bears.
"Nothing wrong with talking about it if both sides were presented"
Cap and trade, obesity. What freaking next? My boogers?
I can say I know MM well and he is a man that looks at both sides. If a teacher is only one sided what is she telling the kids? A kid needs to make up their own mind and figure out what is right and what is wrong. So a teacher should show kids both side of what is going on and give that child an understanding so they learn how to make a decision that is right for them or the Country. So don't be so hard on MM he's a good father who is only looking out for his kids. MM I got your back on this one.
Hotfire. I know CT well. She has no idea what she is talking about on any subject. Just ignore anything she says.
I got your back on this one HF.
I think there may have been a "Polar Bear Incident" somewhere along the line.
MM...when I was typing last night I was disgruntled about the Penguins, so I think I was making some cold weather animal correlations. Take no offense by my tone, I'm a jerk to most people.

Most????
I'll bet it's a real short list that's stopping it from being "all".
Personally I finally broke down and ordered that dang versus. You know I have a PVR thinking it's suppose to have everything and it seems to keep costing me more. Anyways, back to the Pens game I watched it last night personally I don't think the Pens were trying to hard I really think they want to bring it to our home turff and beat their *sses. Send the Flyers home pouting with their orange crush. So they one a game big deal our turn is Sunday.
I certainly hope VS brings new announcers to Pittsburgh when the game comes here on Sunday. That reporting was extremely biased--it was a conference championship game, not a Flyers home game. My son seems to think that Comcast owns both the Flyers and the VS network, but I haven't checked that out.
Just watch any sporting event w a Pittsburgh Team and National announcers. They all hate Pittsburgh.
I have heard that the people that have comcast don't have to pay extra this is a given channel. Now that you say it I also think it was all one sided but I did hear at the end of the game it was going to be shown on NBC so that might be in our favor this Sunday.
After I wrote that, I went online and confirmed that Comcast owns both the Flyers and the Versus channel. There's no conflict of interest there!!! I hope another channel starts to cover the games, I really have had enough of Versus.
I believe Sunday's game is on NBC.
I said that already your late !
Are you suggesting I should actually read what you post???
That people in education tend to be Liberals. So of course they grasp onto garbage like global warming and the ever-so-popular bashing of President Bush.
This goes all the way from elementary schools through the colleges.
But don't try to fill my kids' heads with your liberal bull****. Keep your politics and your liberal causes out of the classroom. If there's no place for religion in a public school, there's no place for your liberal opinions.
My very conservative thinking college aged son had a very liberal English professor in his first year in college who wanted the students to write a position paper. My son's topic was to analyze the Bill O'Reilly show. My son at the age of 18 had learned to play to his audience and contrary to his own belief wrote a very liberal analysis.
Just to let everyone know that is how the caucus system works in other states. They go into the room and stand at an area designated for that candidate and debate each other trying to have people change their candidate.
