school ending finally
Now that this school year is finally ending, does anyone out there really beleive that:
a) the strike was a good thing for this district
b) everything is okay again at SVSD and the strike was just a temporary inconvenience - all is forgotten
c) the district is headed in the right direction and 2008/2009 and subsequent school years will be better than 2007/2008
My opinion, the problems remain and we just painted over the rotten floor boards and everyone was just happy to get a contract. Will there ever be real changes in the school board, admin, and union? Drunken board members, Real "angry" Republicans, no merit pay, no accountability, administrators afraid of the teachers, strikes that punish students and not teachers....what's changed since last fall besides the calendar?

Hasn't this whole subject been thrown through the ringer for 8 months? I'm sorry, but get over it. It's over. I am sick of hearing about the 'strike'.
Come up with a more interesting subject to blog about please, cuz we are in dire need of that.

This is so over stick a fork in me I am done with this subject we have done this over and over. It's time to move on and enjoy our summer.
What a sour person with a sour attitude. One of the fine HS teachers at SVSD received the Red Apple award, the administrators are doing their job overseeing students and faculty, the teachers are teaching but also happy to be ending this school year as are the students, our board is going to be solving their problems in August and new union reps. So, the glass is half full and all is well. Wishing a safe and happy summer to all students & teachers.
I guess the most important subjects now in the area are innuendo, adolescent sexual chatter and horse anatomy. Karma, you appear to have the intellectual depth of a mud puddle. One teacher wins an award, all admins are doing great and the school board we all questioned just 6 months ago are still around so "the glass is half full and all is well"!
Sorry for being Pit-thetic since I'm still concerned about an issue that wasn't really fixed. Since I don't enjoy sexually charged mindless banter, I'll save my comments for another venue and leave you to the important subjects like tattoos. Signing off.......
Bye Bye!
The SV teacher 'strike' is over, so let it rest. Come up with something more interesting and informative to blog about. That is the point. No one needs to 'grow up', we are adults talking about anything, even if it is tattoos or raising our kids or whatever, however this subject of Seneca Valley has been hashed to death and most ppl are done and bored with it.

Don't be so easily offended, we are sick of the subject. Its kind of like calling a talk show about a subject that was talked about during the last hour.
We are now in the "cooling off" period of warm weather bliss.
I would be happy to pre-screen your posts from now on, send them to my secret email tllovesjulio@hotblogchicksfromcranberry.com
I L Y! haha...it's kind of like 'You are the father!', 'You're NOT the father!', over and over again. boring, who freaking cares who the father is?

FYI-strike was settled-contracts signed. You can sit and suck on your lemons until the next contract negotiations start. A mud puddle?? At least I am confident and positive and oh yes--I am a 10+++, with brains, brawn and beauty.
was just plain ole mean possessor of much that is "karma"!! i and the shep and blog hog and paprr of the cult are all 1000000+++ so a 10+++ is moving in the right direction...the real one.
Lol-angrymom is my mentor now and she is in the process of teaching me mean-so how do you think I am doing so far?
how is that hottt ground hog who never shows up here (only to pop in) even though he is mean and angry and always has much to say (right)? Get on him to come back and at least post something worthy of us.

Amen to your comments. I'd prefer to argue tattoos with MFS (the lost soul).
Wait a minute, sister?, well ok, whatever...
You know where I'm coming from..this is so over..summer is here almost, now we have to deal with those little ones being home. We had a free month as far as I'm concerned

p.s. and I know you can come up with a fun, entertaining, intelligent subject for blogging!
Don't give me a hard time! When I posted that they were the only two on here, doing their duty of monitoring this page. They weren't out getting pidicures and all that other stuff, they were here, defending us!
Got that!!!???!!!
P.S. (yeah, I can PS too)set up another party or we are voting you out os social chair!
No on all three questions, Pit Boss. I am with you....Has nothing to do with the strike, etc. But everything to do with the administration up there. I have heard some eye opening stories about that lately....Nothing has changed, nothing will. But as I said way back when, I have a voice and a choice...

Since no one felt they were capable of answering Pit Boss's question about what has changed with this school district, maybe this blog has lost its usefulness. Everything that was discussed before and during the strike is exactly the same. Since this is our kid's education and futures we're dealing with, maybe someone should try to answer Pit Boss's question. I'll freely admit I'm not intelligent enough to answer them, but that doesn't mean the answers aren't out there. And unless you can answer the question, maybe you should consider the option of keeping your mouth shut when the question is asked (except for HF-I like reading his posts).
On the lighter side:
$4 a gallon gas is Bush's fault. If you believe that, you're an idiot. No, idiot is too kind of a description. You're a democrat.
Obama should be President. Absolutely. Now we're being told that his wife's fashion style is bringing back memories of Jackie Kennedy. That's enough for me. I'm switching to being a Democrat so I can vote for him 9 times.
Exxon is making too much money, so let's take the profits from a private company and give it to the government. Brilliant. . General Electric--10.32% profit margin. "This Bud's for you" Anheuser-Busch--12.46% profit margin. Everyone's favorite "little blue pill" maker, Pfizer--23.50% profit margin. Microsoft--30.36% profit margin-repeat 30.36% profit margin.
Exxon--9.7% profit margin. So let's all stop buying gas; stop buying light bulbs and use candles; stop drinking; throw away your computers; stop---never mind (HF accounted for 21% of that profit)
Will not keep my mouth shut-especially if YOU tell me to.
Pit-thetic gave his opinion after he more or less asked questions and I answered all three in my opinion-so that makes me similar to a mud puddle? I guess you agree with him. :(
huh?

And only an 8.5% margin on average for Big oil? Go figure. I am gonna sip that kool aid TL.
I am not going rehash the debate on these blogs about the school. Everyone is entitled to their opinion whether it is based on fact or fiction. But Pit boss is correct that the situation with regard the strike is accurate. A contract was "signed" but it is not going to solve the underlying problems that the administration and union need to work together and trust each other for the sake of the school and our kids education. There are numerous hard feelings as a result of the strike by some teachers who feel slighted, by the community in their disrespecting teachers as well as others. Look for the union to be active in the local schoolbaord races next year. The community better be active as well but the general community will not becuase there is a contract and things seem fine. Therefore it will pit two groups who have agendas in next year elections: Union vs. Real Republicans. Actually it will quite entertainign to watch. If there is no turn over on the board then expect a strike in 2011 over the same issues that were hashed in these blogs over the last 6 months. Everything is fine now but three years away is not that far. Get involved now to put all groups and officials on notice that the community is not going to be blind sided again with regard to issues that it can not stop. I do not want to see on these blogs any whining in 2011 if there is talk about another strike that I should have been more invovled. That excused can only be used once.
Please do nto get me wrong I do not think the district is in a "gloom and doom" scenario that Pit boss thinks. There are good things and there are bad things but the effect of the strike only made things worse and the issues that "caused" the strike are still there ready to hit again in 2011. If you think that I am completly off base ask around as to why 2 months after the arbitors ruling that the disatrict still does not have a signed contract. We shall see. Thanks for listen blogger land.
Well said "hello"! It's not "gloom and doom" by Pit boss though. Just the truth. Are we any further ahead? Did you see Metcalfe's "strike-free" letter today calling for a summer hearing? I think it's well-written. Maybe someone can send in the link. (I'm embarrassed to say I'm computerly challenged.)
Are you related to Karma? Sorry Karm had to say it seeing both of you are computer challenged.
Oh thanks! I do know how to send a link.
For the past 3 weeks, my children have come home from school telling me all they do is have fun in the classrooms -- they have parties, watch movies, play games, and have free time. I am frustrated because they have wasted 3 weeks of instructional time. One of my children had an assignment for extra credit -- make cookies for a party. These are upper grades, not elementary school classes. They want to skip the rest of the week, because they are tired of going to school and doing nothing. Is anyone else hearing that from their children?
Yeah, I think I heard that from my neighbor's, sister's, cousin's, nephew's, brother-in-law's grandson. They said they ate peanut butter cookies while watching the movies.

I hope this wasn't one of the SENECA VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT SCHOOL'S that had peanut butter cookies and watched movies... because SENECA is a pb+j and peanut oil free. PEANUT BUTTER AND PEANUT OIL IS NOT ALLOWED
I was ROTFL when I first read your comment here. Laughing even harder reading bren's response wrt peanut butter cookies. Your "neighbor's, sister's, cousin's, nephew's, brother-in-law's grandson" comment should have been a hint that you were tongue-in-cheek here.
Glad to hear you had a good laugh. Just doing " I heard this" & "I heard that" skit. I am happy you can appreciate my humor!
that my kids are having fun yes the last week of school they mostly do nothing but that hasn't really changed cause that is how it is usually every year. My kids other then this week have been working in school and doing what they need to do in academics. I have elementary/middle school age kids. I guess each teacher will be different maybe some of these teachers have finished what they needed to do so they decided to watch movies and have parties. You will never know unless you ask.
But I totally agree, as the days dwindle, so does the work, the way it always is at the end of the year, nothing new
my kids have had projects, speeches, presentations, tests, etc. just as of today. Most teachers are keeping them busy and learning right to the end, I think. I have a 6th, 7th and 10th grader, just to put things in perspective, but they are still hitting the books. Teachers even e-mail letting you know that work is still being done. No slacking here.
I'm glad to hear that not all teachers are slacking. I understand the last week of school -- all work is finished. But for my kids, this has been going on for 3 weeks. One day, my child watched 4 movies. Each of my children seem to have one class a day where they have academics. The other classes are games and movies and free time. This has been bothering me, but based on the blogs, it doesn't seem to be a widespread problem.
