Calling PA School Board Directors to action!
Dear PA School Board Director,
You already know that the single biggest item in your annual budget is the teacher union contract (labor costs), and that the ability of the union to threaten and use strikes has an enormous impact on that cost. The union can drag out contract negotiations for years to wear school board members down, and then get a retroactive contract settlement. House Bill 1369 for the first time would equip responsible school board directors with the tools they need to do their job. The full text of the Bill begins on page 16 here.
We urge you to download the following school board resolution:
Download the resolution here.
Call to action:
Please bring this resolution up for a vote at a school board meeting. When it passes a vote of the Board, please send a signed copy of the resolution to:
1. Governor Rendell, state legislators in your County, and PSBA leadership
2. Your local media outlets together with public comments or a press release from a school board spokesperson.
3. A copy sent to StopTeacherStrikes, Inc. would be appreciated so we can keep a running count statewide.
Spread the word
This action depends upon you pro-actively bringing this resolution up for a vote among your fellow board members, and to reach out to your contacts on other school boards in Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA) are an ineffective status quo organization on the strike issue. They are doing nothing to champion House Bill 1369. We encourage individual school board directors to be proactive in seizing this opportunity.
Calling parents/taxpayers to action!
Please contact your local school board directors and ask them to download and vote for the resolution found on this web page. You can look up their email addresses at the school district website or you can write them c/o the school district. Thank-you.
